best of the year

Best of lists are part of Christmas. Well, seeing as I have the power to publish my own opinions, here are my topper picks for the year…
Best Record
The Killers - Sawdust
Ok, it’s a B-sides n rarities comp. But The Killers are simply so far ahead of anything else out there right now.
Best Film
The Bourne Ultimatum
A […]

of course the original was fantastic, too

killers: sawdust

The Killers have a new record out. It’s not a ‘proper’ album, just a B-sides ‘n rarities compilation. Like almost all of The Killers stuff up to yet, it’s fantastic (regardless of the tepid critical reception) - conveying exactly why they’re the most creative and confident mainstream band on the planet.

Hello Nigel. My old friend.

sir elton wants the internet “closed”

From The Sun (hiss, spit): -
“We’re talking about things that are going to change the world and change the way people listen to music and that’s not going to happen with people blogging on the internet.
“I mean, get out there — communicate.
“Hopefully the […]

does the music industry have a leg to stand on?

Political Penguin has introduced me to the excellent blog by Matthew Revell (who, I assume, is not the Matthew Revell I went to school with??), and also to an equally interesting post about David Cameron’s recent lecture to the music industry ponytails.
Matthew is not too taken with Cameron’s sycophantic pandering, and takes him to task. […]
