It's not a matter of warbloging; it's the slow dawning though that it was the right thing to do. It's as bono fortold..
"There was a plan there, you know. I think the president genuinely felt that if we could prove a model of democracy and broad prosperity in the Middle East, it might defuse the situation. I don't believe that, and in the capacity I had, I told them that.
...
I want to be very, very clear, however: I understand and agree with the analysis of the problem. There is an imminent threat. It manifested itself on 9/11. It's real and grave. It is as serious a threat as Stalinism and National Socialism were. Let's not pretend it isn't.
I think people as reasoned as Tony Blair looked at the world and didn't want to be Neville Chamberlain, who came back from meeting with Hitler with a piece of paper saying "peace in our time," while Hitler was planning to cross the channel from France."

What troubles - and disgusts - me is that the Iraq war has now been going on almost as long as World War Two, during which I grew up. In those days, every single person in the country knew only too well that there was a war on, why we were fighting it, and what the stakes were. Now, I doubt if those who know care, and those who don't know are happy to be invincibly ignorant.

I can only hope, Tyger, that by the time your children are young adults your generation will have succeeded in making a better world than this for them to live in.

Hi Mike,

I was surprised no-one wrote about Iraq on LC. Like you say, maybe warblogging fatigue.

BTW. I noticed that not many rightwing blogs "honoured" yesterday's significance, either.

I didn't notice much response from the wonderful world of liberals over at LibCon, as I pointed out in the comments there. It seems in some quarters that it's no longer hip to mention Iraq at all unless you have some solution up your sleeve :( It's a kind of warblogging fatigue I suppose.

As I wandered around the city centre this afternoon I asked myself just how many of the shoppers and widow gazers and burger munchers had the faintest idea about what has really been done to the people of Iraq - in their names.

Do we let them walk away? Well Kissinger (one of the greatest war criminals of the 20th century) is still alive and well and in no danger of being arrested, tried and hanged. So I suppose the answer is, yes.
