obsolete

Another example why this is the most consistent, and best, blog in the UK.

“septicisle” makes writing LC’s Casting the net a very predictable affair.

BTW. LC seems to have gotten over the holiday malaise very well.

Septicisle is one of the few bloggers able to produce longer, analytical pieces which are readable and interesting. I wouldn’t want all blogs to be like that (I think there is room for ‘tabloid’ blogging -tabloid NOT meaning simply piss-poor writing in this case) and there are many bloggers out there trying to do what Septicisle does and failing miserably. It’s not as easy as it looks, folks!

I’d agree with all that. He doesn’t waffle, he has a lot to say, but it’s not chaff.

Oh sure, there’s definitely room for shorter pieces that are both pithy and say something that no one else has, but I especially enjoy the longer, meatier stuff such as Unity produces, although even I think he occasionally goes on just a bit at times.

Thank you both. Only problem is that I sometimes feel that if I write less than about 1000 words each day I’m not really putting my heart into it.

No chaff, that’s the thing Aaron. There is something unforgiving about reading on screen. It’s much easier to lose people quickly. Time means something else online, where we can’t wait more than a few seconds for a page to load! There is definitely a difference in writing for the screen and writing for print. I say that as a reader and NOT a writer! On the other hand look at some of the pieces in the NYT that manage to hold your attention even though they are 7 or 8 pages long! It can be done. :)
