A few weeks ago, I and several other writer/bloggers were approached by Sunny Hundal, with regard to contributing to a new liberal/left “super-blog” he was planning.

I agreed.

Today that blog is born.

Please say hello to Liberal Conspiracy.

It is hoped that this blog will be a hub of intelligent debate, where liberal-left ideas are shared, developed and communicated. Check the “about” section for more info.

Later in the week I’ll begin posting my daily review of the blogosphere. I intend the section to be a brief snapshot of our corner of the web, highlighting relevant, insightful posts and pointing you in the direction of the hottest debate.

In the ‘Matrix’ world there is Left and Right.

In the real world there is simply Up and Down.

This ‘Left’ common platform has been done before - eg Federation of Progressive Societies and Individuals (FPSI) in early 1930’s - later to become the Socialist League.

I wish you well - but, to my mind, you have fallen into the old 20th century trap of ‘Left - Right’ obsolete politics - fatally ignoring the ‘Up - Down’ real-politik.

Just listening to you on the radio - good for you! at last - I’m fully with you in your aim to widen debate on the left.

Just caught the interview on Radio4’s PM………well done……I am not a ‘blogophile’ but willing to see how it goes :-)

I have high hopes for this venture!

PS: Someone needs to sort out some banners!

Old 20th century ‘Left-Right’ politics are obsolete in the 21st - it’s simply ‘Up-Down’ politics now…and we are still pitifully unaware of it.

    Hi Y’all,

Thanks. Keep an eye on LibCon over the next few days and offer your comments!

    Mike, you offering?

    Richard,

Pah! The left rides again, old friend…

…into a dead-end…while those at the top admire their handiwork of manipulation and control :

This sounds exciting. It will be good to read intelligent liberal-left ideas, all in one place. I’ve had a quick look, and while I don’t recognise all the bloggers, it will be interesting to get to read the work of some unfamiliar writers as well.

Will keep an eye on the blog.

Am I offering? Erm, no! :)

I knocked up a small badge to stick on my side bar and I will be fiddling around to produce something more permanent and you’re welcome to help yourself to anything that grabs you but I think such a worthy cause calls for someone who knows what they’re doing :)
    BTW, How was the launch?

    Hi Mike,

I could only make the first hour as I had to catch the train back (I had parked in a car-park with a barrier that closed at 10), so I caught the 20:03 train back up.

It was good though. Met a few bloggers, including Chris Dillow, which was cool. Oh and a few Guardianistas were in attendance and some Demos bods. Meeting Sunny was good, too.

Bertrand Russell, Albert Einstein, Cyril Joad, George Bernard Shaw, The Webbs (LSE) et al were unafraid of using the word “SOCIALIST”…and would avoid the word “LIBERAL” at all costs.

Or are you just a group of post-Eustonites trying to find a meaning to your beliefs ?

As I said, Left-Right conflicts are a thing of the past…wake up to the real world..it’s Up-Down now - not Left-Right.
