One wonders if there's a freedom of speech or freedom of expression argument here.

Ultimately, banning them won't do much; the games will still be available over the internet or by post from overseas.

Yeah, spotted that one over at the Beeb. For some strange reason I got deja-vu and the distinct feeling it was 1995 again.

Let's just get this straight. We're going to solve violence in society by getting people to marry because as we all know, once a pair of crappy parents walk down the aisle together they are miraculously transformed into loving caring people who will raise respectful well adjusted kids not of course implying that it's all the fault of those naughty feckless single parents.
Then once that's sorted out the old chestnut of it's all the fault of video games/the movies/gansta rap can be handled by err... more restrictions on freedoms but hey, it's only the lower classes recreations we're talking about so no matter because they can learn some proper recreational activities like watching dogs rip other live animals to pieces because that's in no way violent of course.
The one that is inspired by increasing the number of prisoners in each cell to of course make prison much more of a deterrent.
So that's more restrictions, let's make prison tougher line, restrictions on the freedoms to engage in fantasy video games, the kids will be brought up properly once the parents have got rings on their fingers, it's just like the old days. Seems Cameron's cuddly Tories image is waning but rather than slip into the outright policies that they've used in recent years, he's rehashing their policies of the early to mid-90's and they of course worked really well. Anyone remember Strangeways?
