Of course it was a pretty daft mistake. In fact as far as QT gaffes go, it’s a classic, but of course certain elements of the blogosphere will attempt to frame the mistake as further evidence of the TB-GB schism and the end of David Miliband’s career. It represents neither. The other QTers enjoyed rubbing Miliband’s nose in his own mess, which of course caused a swell in the trousers of certain Tory-bloggers, but they are, yet again, over-playing their hand. It was a gaffe, simple as that.
