In an article clearly written to make rightwingers feel better about their inner selfishness, the ginger Charles Moore wannabe, Simon Heffer, has attacked Slippery Dave’s controversial embrace of the Chief-Matriarch of the Guardianistas, Polly Toynbee.
Now far be it for me to defend Toynbee - I have never been a fan, but she does talk informatively about life chances, and does not, unlike ignoramuses like Heffer, dismiss the overwhelming evidence that people from poor families suffer because of their situation.
I wonder if Heffer’s childhood haunt, The King Edward VI Grammar School in Chelmsford, is as deprived as the average inner-city comprehensive? Britain is faced with huge social problems, and Heffer’s usual - “Whose fault is that?” - argument will not solve anything, beyond soothing a few consciences.
However he also infers that Cameron is a tosser, so he’s not always wrong.

haha, from what I’ve heard (from ex-students) King Edwards takes a strong line on drgugs, expelling members for any usage. And then writing them impeccable references for entry into other elite institutions.
simon heffer has no handle on reality. perhaps he should try living for 6 months on benefits in an inner city tower block and see how well he survives, let alone enjoys it.
Thanks for the comments Scrybe. Point of order though; your link, in the Website field, is incorrect.
I hate heffer. Worth reading just for the bile though.
