Are the French left tearing themselves apart AGAIN?

Ségolène Royal - TIME.COM

“I am the only candidate capable of beating the Right…I embody the deep change that people want.” ~ Ségolène Royal

Ségolène Royal’s bid to become the socialists presidential nomination is rocking, as polls show that challenger Dominique Strauss-Kahn is catching up. Remember, it was a socialist schism that allowed the Nationalist (see fascist) Jean Le Pen to poll embarrassingly high in the last election. An election that allowed the atrocious Chirac to return to power.

The Times has the story.

Anyone who isn’t a real socialist shouldn’t be a candidate, social democrats are helping the Right to hold France back from socialism.

Yes, of course they are. Ever wondered why the PS (and there SFIO predecessors) are just about the least succesful mainstream Socialist party in Western Europe?

Still, if Royal is going to self-destruct, it’s better she do it now than after she’s the official candidate…

Btw, bearing in mind his record as PM in the ’80’s, I find Fabius’s re-invention of himself to be some sort of hard-leftist quite amusing.

Interesting points, but in my estimation, if Royal falls, then so do the Socialists.

    I’m with tyger.
