More from Mr.Zhisou’s Spanish adventure…

When I got to work today there were cockroaches climbing all over the building and cockroaches scurrying all over the floor. I started stamping on a few of them in anger, then someone pointed behind me and I turned to see hundreds of the nasty blighters all over the road. No, I never saw a cockroach in my whole time in the US, they seem to be a Spanish thing, like paella.

Cockroaches breed in warm climates, not only in Spain. Where I live in the Canary Islands, 650 metres above sea level, there are none. In winter you will see none in the Spanish mainland.
Paella is a Valencian dish, although it is cooked all over Spain and it could be cooked anywhere else provided you have the right ingredients. But I don’t know why, it tastes better in Valencia. It is not difficult to make.
